Seeking private grants is one of the most challenging elements in the nonprofit world. After individual donations, private grants constitute a significant role in the fundraising process.  But whither thou goest to find the grants? Where lie the resources for prospect research and grant seeking? Most importantly, what do you do next when you find a grant in line with the mission and vision⁠ of your organization? 

This workshop will demystify the grant process and provide concrete resources for finding grants, and will provide tips to craft a strong proposal.

Kerry Lee Riley is the Development Associate for Compassion, Inc. in Riverdale, Maryland and confronts food insecurity in the Metro D.C. area by recovering and distrbuting fresh food and produce to children and families in need. He has served as a Nonprofit Consultant for 30 years, with expertise in Prospect Research, Fundraising Planning, Grant Writing, Strategic Planning, Evaluation and Assessment, Coalition Building, and Diversity/Equity/Inclusion.  Kerry is an award-winning professor of Ethnic Studies and Social Science and resides in Washington, D.C.

Grants Workshop - Preparing for the Proposal Process

⁠You have a handle on the different ways to research grants that align with your nonprofit's mission and started to draft LOIs and proposals to secure funding and continue your actvities.  But what are the things you should be doing for your organization to be prepared and make the grant writing process more efficient and less stressful?

⁠Alexandra ("Alex") Cohen works with nonprofits, social enterprises and startups to design and implement programs that expand their global impact. With more than 15 years of experience as a litigation attorney, Alex uses her strong writing and advocacy skills  as a nonprofit consultant.  She designs strategy and communicates complex ideas to a varied audience, and particularly enjoys supporting nonprofits build their capacity and create strong grant proposals that translate into funding and increased impact.
